Pinna reflex

If auditory function is normal, guinea pigs will exhibit the Preyer, or pinna reflex (cock their ears) in response to sound.

They use a variety of vocalizations that correlate with different social behaviors. These include a whistling sound, which may be elicited normally in anticipation of feeding, and squealing that may be associated with discomfort.
